Windows

Install the OpenVPN and OpenVPN Gui from:

https://openvpn.net/index.php/download/community-downloads.html

Look at the section Windows Installer(NSIS) (the current version is openvpn-install-2.4.7-I603.exe).

Download the Telin config file telinVPN.ovpn by right-clicking and selecting Save file as…. Save it in the config directory c:\program files\openvpn\config.

Double click the OpenVPN GUI on the Desktop and start the VPN, fill in your TELIN credentials!

**DO NOT FORGET to disconnect** when you don't need the VPN! Your network traffic will be routed through the University network, which is slower then just use your own network.

Users report us there could be a problem with the DNS not set correctly.

You can check in the cmd box if ping wanda doesn’t find the host. This is the solution:

Control Panel > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings > Right click your Ethernet or Wifi adapter > Properties > double click IPv4 > Advanced > Uncheck Automatic Metric > Enter 15 for interface metric > OK > OK.

On that same Properties page, double click IPv6 > Advanced > Uncheck Automatic Metric > Enter 15 for interface metric > OK > OK.

MacOS

In MacOS you can use Tunnelblick.

Download and install the .dmg file (the current version is Tunnelblick_3.7.8_build_5180.dmg). You will have an extra app Tunnelblick in the Applications folder.

Download the Telin config file telinVPN.ovpn by right-clicking and selecting Download linked file as…. Save it on your preferred location.

Start the Tunnelblick app and drag and drop the telinVPN.ovpn config file on the app. Connect and fill in your Telin credentials!

**DO NOT FORGET to disconnect** when you don't need the VPN! Your network traffic will be routed through the University network, which is slower then just use your own network.

Linux

Install both network-manager-openvpn and network-manager-openvpn-gnome packages.

$ apt install network-manager-openvpn network-manager-openvpn-gnome

Download the Telin config file telinVPN.ovpn by right-clicking and selecting Save file as…. Save it on your preferred location.

Locate the network-manager and select Edit Connections…. Click Add and select the connection type Import a saved VPN configuration…. Select the telinVPN.ovpn which you have just downloaded. Fill in your Username and Password. Close.

In the network-manager select VPN Connections and telinVPN.

Android

It is even possible to use OpenVPN in you Android smartphone. This could be usefull if you are on an unknown (and untrusted) hotspot, or you would like to have VOIP from Eduroam.

Download and install the OpenVPN Connect from the Google Play Store. First you have to download the Telin config file telinVPN.ovpn. You will have to use Chrome as your browser to be able to do that! Login and on the link press long. A dialog will open with the item Download. The telinVPN.ovpn config file will be downloaded in your Download folder in your smartphone.

Open OpenVPN Connect and open the action bar|button, select import, Import Profile from SD card. Fill in your Username and Password and you are ready to Connect!
