Curriculum Vitae

Timeline

1995 - 2000

I studied physics at the University of Antwerp (first at RUCA and then at UIA) and received my licence degree in June 2000. In the last year I wrote a dissertation on shape memory alloys (SMAs) at EMAT entitled: "Microstructurele Karakterisaties van Fasetransformaties in Smelt-Gesponnen Ni25Ti50Cu25". My promoter was prof. dr. D. Schryvers.

2000 - 2000

In this period, I performed scientific research on SMAs with the transmission electron microscope (TEM) at the group EMAT (RUCA).

2001 - 2002

During this period, I was part of the group BIMEF (RUCA), where I did research on the middle ear with interferometry. My supervisors were prof. dr. J. Dirckx and prof. dr. W. Decraemer.

2002 - 2006

Being part of TELIN, the group specialized in telecommunication and information processing at the Faculty of Engineering of Ghent University (UGent), I have been pursuing a PhD. The TELIN department is subdivided into four groups. I am part of the Image processing and Interpretation Research Group (IPI). My promoter was prof. dr. ir. W. Philips. My doctoral thesis is entitled "Mathematical Morphology in Image Processing". The main topics of this thesis are the extension of mathematical morphology (MM) to colour images, the use of MM in the tribological study of polymers (and composites), and the interpolation of images using MM.

2007 - 2008

I received the degree of Doctor of Science in Engineering on January 9, 2007. My post-doc research concerned working on a project about colour management and digital printing.

2008 - 2013

During this period, I worked at the Artesis University College of Antwerp. I was a lecturer and research co-ordinator in the domain of Electronics-ICT and Multimedia at the department of Applied Engineering.

2014 - 2015

I worked at SoftKinetic in Brussels as IP & Project Engineer. SoftKinetic is the leading provider of end-to-end, 3D vision for PCs, portable electronics and machines.

2016 - now

Currently, I work at VistaLink in Mechelen as R&D Engineer. VistaLink is a machine vision integrator, mainly active in pharma, automotive and distribution.
